Hey there! I am Daniel, and I love learning about all sorts of things. I am finishing up my major in computer science, and I spend my free time experimenting with different bits of technology. I have spent a lot of time in my garage, putting together a workshop, and expanding upon it with new equipment and things to do. I have been trying to recover gold from a bunch of old computer scrap, including connectors (gold plated), and dozens of PCBs that have gold-plated portions.
I don't have the money to pay for the amount of nitric acid that I would use to make aqua regia, but I have strong sulfuric acid and plenty of nitrate salts, so I should be able to make some nitric acid at home (I think). I have a decent understanding of electricity, so I have been able to use reverse electroplating, but I have not been able to do anything with the resulting black sludge.
This is supposed to be an introduction, not a regular post, so excuse me for getting too into the specifics of my situation.
In short, I love learning about this stuff, and I have plenty of gold to recover (I hope). Best of luck to you all, and thank you for welcoming me here!
