Hiked around the hills in Washington State....no deer but several mountain lion and wolf tracks. Went to the family property in Montana and shot a mulie two-point (western count) meat buck.

This is my view as I sit and clip components off boards. The deer and the turkeys steal bird seed regularly..
They both get skittish when people walk or drive up- I call them my early warning system.

What do your deer eat primarily? Up here in Colorado, they mostly eat grass and Sage. Very gamey taste, to the point where I won't eat any. I've heard grass and corn deer are pretty good though. Still nothing like a good old Wagyu steak.
The place we hunt is primarily corn, soy beans and acorns. They do get a fair mix of fruits at times, especially muscadine, persimmons and apples when in season. We can get a feeder license and we do run corn at times, especially in bad winters.
Sage brush just does not make good meat, grass fed isn't to bad. I last hunted Colorado in the early 1980's and doubt it is the same today as was it was back then.
