Hello refiners,
My name is Ian (Auz) Edwards,
I’ve been a member for almost a year and been reading posts from time to time, this is my first post and I’m probably going to get lectured, anyway I’ve read the book a lot i can purify gold from jewellery with nitric acid but I struggle with precipitating with aqua regia. I uploaded a video where I recovered gold but it had disappeared next day.

Welcome.
Your first post did not invite to a welcome, sorry about that.

First and foremost, we need more information on what you have done in detail.
How did you make the AR?
How have you treated the AR after dissolving the Gold?
What kind of precipitant did you use?

Anyway there is more to this "hobby" than Hokes book.

Please study these links in particular safety and waste treatment:

We ask our new members to do 3 things.
1. Read C.M. Hokes book on refining jewelers scrap, it gives an easy introduction to the most important chemistry regarding refining.
It is free here on the forum: https://goldrefiningforum.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=54&t=19798
2. Then read the safety section of the forum: https://goldrefiningforum.com/forums/safety.47/
3. And then read about "Dealing with waste" in the forum: https://goldrefiningforum.com/threads/dealing-with-waste.10539/

Looks to me like the jewelry you are refining has too much Silver in the alloy to dissolve all of the Gold completely. The easiest way would be to inquart with Silver, part with nitric, and refine the insolubles with aqua regia. These threads address the issue completely and it is where you should start your research.

On the brighter side, jewelry is one of the easiest scrap types to refine so success is pretty much assured. Even if you messed up, the values can be recovered and you can start again. All you need to be successful is here on the forum.

Yes, thanks for the acknowledgement I know what the problem is, I tried skipping the safety part, I’ll keep reading up on the subject.

If you definitely had gold, and it disappeared the next day then you hadn't denoxxed your AR, therefore it redissolved.
