Interesting thread even if it was "out of bounds". I never thought cupelling would be that hazardous if you were outside but you are probably blowing off lead and mercury vapor in fairly large amounts among many unknowns.
Hopefully not Mercury, unless the ore contain it, hence the assay.
Lead is bad enough.
 
I was thinking from older electronics regarding mercury. I can attest to how nasty ore + AR can be. I was doing 5g samples for atomic absorption analysis and an evil blue green cloud would come off when I added the acids.
