Harold,

Despite the fact that I have strayed away from my inital use of AR as a slovent for gold, I have been successful at getting gold into and out of solutions using other less hazardous means. I've seen first hand gold drop out of many solutions and was indeed amazed at the ease with which it occurs. I have also noticed how much easier the very pure gold melts as compared to thte difficulties associated with working with contaminated bullion.

I know this is a old topic, but I have used the following mixture to thin my slag with great success.

1 part Flourspar (CaF2) also known as Calcium Flouride

1 part Calccium Oxide (CaO, Lime, Type S, Unslacked)

mix until of uniform color. Store in a tightly caped container until needed. Us the mix sparingly. Both of these chemicals are thinning agents.
