Hello
Can any one tell me what is white gold
or its composition
Gold silver copper nilkel zinc or tin
how to make white gold (composition)
and its soldering alloy
thanks
Hrushi

It depends on the alloy you want.
9k tends to be 37.5% Au and the balance is sterling silver giving a slight buttery colour that needs Rh plating.
18k can be 75% Au 15% Pd and the balance been copper and zinc or it can be alloyed with nickel rather than the Pd but here in Europe we have nickel release problems so that one is rarely used now.
I did have the alloys for solder and all the other products at one time but I fear their long gone so I'm working off memory.

According to "The Jeweler's Bench Reference" by Harold O'Connor:
18k white gold = 1.000g Fine gold, 0.047g copper, 0.210g nickel, 0.076g zinc; total weight= 1.333g
14k white gold = 1.000g Fine gold, 0.342g copper, 0.248g nickel, 0.120g zinc; total weight=1.710g

solder for a given karat of gold = 4g gold to be soldered & 1g fine silver

Try to get this book if you can. I don't know if its still in print or not. It has EVERYTHING.
good luck

I tried this but color was yellow only

FWIW, unless plated, higher karat golds will always be yellow-ish. this is true of rose, green or whatecver. The tints are usually visible only in contrast to straight yellow or through moistened tissue.

I don't know how accurate these are. But you may need to use platinum or palladium for 18k white.

http://hubpages.com/hub/Gold-Alloy

•White Gold (18K): Gold 75wt%, Platinum or Palladium 25wt%.
See Gold :: White Gold by Humagaia for further information on white gold.

•White Gold (18K): Gold 75wt%, Palladium 10wt%, Nickel 10wt%, Zinc 5wt%.

18K white (alloyed with nickel) was quite popular back in the day when filigree was in vogue. It is surprisingly white---but consider that gold is alloyed by weight, not volume. In spite of the high percentage of gold, there's still a large amount of nickel present.

No, it's not as white as platinum. By its nature, nickel has a hint of yellow, especially when compared to chrome.

How to check the purity of gold at home? Is there any way? :?:
A touchstone and a little experience serves nicely. There are test needles available that make it easy. If you are interested, check with a jewelry supply company, asking for a gold testing kit.
